POSITION: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY COORDINATOR NI – (1 Opening) ANNUAL SALARY: $46,966.40 – $71,864.00 BI-WEEKLY: $1,806.40 – $2,764.00 Public Works/Neighborhood Improvement J.O. #14-020

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Works under the general direction of the Neighborhood Improvement (NI) Administrator to monitor the NI Service Centers network and its various systems software. Monitors the location of Neighborhood Improvement employees and vendors using various electronic devices such Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Serves as liaison between the department and Information Systems (IS) on Information Technology (IT) projects and initiatives. Coordinates the information technology operations and services for the department including the implementation of Neighborhood Improvement IT programs, systems, and other related functions. Reviews and monitors the progress of assigned tasks. Recommends to management the priorities, solutions, projects, and future direction of the NI Service Centers’ IT functions. Troubleshoots minor issues regarding hardware and software components to determine the cause of the problems and appropriately reports to IS. Analyzes statistics and operational activity to determine proper functioning and productivity of Neighborhood Improvement staff, systems and applications. Ensures the Public Works NI Service Centers are utilizing the latest technology by maintaining knowledge of current and developing technology, equipment and systems. Recommends to IS and NI Management appropriate upgrades for software based upon analysis of license requirements upgrades and volumes of use. Provides and coordinates training of department’s staff and external vendors on new and existing technology application software/systems. Works with NI and IS staff to satisfy user requests for network access, installation of desktop applications, and connectivity. Compiles information for departmental metric reports. Creates and prepares a variety of correspondence, memoranda and reports by utilizing various computer applications. Attends various meetings and work sites across the City for Neighborhood Improvement systems problems and opportunities. Interacts and communicates verbally and in writing with management, staff, IS and vendors on a variety of issues and concerns.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:
1. Provides project leadership and training of lower-level employees as needed.
2. Keeps abreast of changes in the industry and emerging technologies.
3. Performs additional functions (essential or otherwise) which may be assigned.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing with consultants, vendors, employees, and management at all levels of the organization. Requires the ability to operate general office equipment such as a computer and telephone. Requires the ability to operate an automobile to visit various work sites across the City for systems problems and meetings.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Majority of work is performed in an office environment. Frequent in-town travel is required to attend meetings and work sites throughout the City.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems or closely related field and five (5) years of professional experience in functional software applications, project management; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions. Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license as a condition of continued employment. Government operations experience preferred. IT-related degree in Computer Science and/or experience with Microsoft applications and Oracle System preferred.
