Registering

Below the Login box on the left is a link to the Register screen.  Enter the requested information and you will be registered.  Until you register and subsequently log in you can’t really participate beyond browsing.

After Registering

The first time you login after registering you will probably be taken directly to your Dashboard.  It is from here that you do everything but browse, read and comment (although you can comment from here too).  The first thing you should do is go to and complete your Profile. On subsequent logins you will need to click on Dashboard to get there.  The menu is on the left of your screen and includes all the functions that your current user lever permits.

User Levels

There are 6 levels of users on this site.

  1. Administrators – The webmaster(s) who administer the site.  A webmaster can edit, approve, delete etc. ANYTHING as well as alter the appearance and behavior of the site.  Administrators can use the email function to send mail to one or more registered users or groups.
  2. Directors – These are the MAGIC Board of Directors.  The Directors have,  essentially, the powers of Administrators but can’t alter the blog itself.  Directors can use the email function to send mail to one or more registered users or groups.
  3. Members - Members in good standing as set forth in the Bylaws of MAGIC will be assigned to the Members group upon verification of their membership status.  Members may add new POSTS, COMMENT on other POSTS, edit and delete their own POSTS and COMMENTS.  Authors can use the email function to send mail to one or more registered user(s).
  4. Friends - Friends are not members of MAGIC and their POSTS and COMMENTS will be reviewed before being approved for publication on the blog.  All published POSTS and COMMENTS are subject to deletion by any Administrator or Director at any time for any reason.  Friends may use the email function to send mail to a single user.
  5. Subscribers – This is the level to which new Registrants are assigned.  The only difference between Subscribers and Guests is the act of registering.  New Subscribers will be checked against the membership list and assigned to the appropriate User Level.  Subscribers  do not have access to the email function.
  6. Guests – Guests are visitors to the blog who are not logged in.  Guests to the site may COMMENT to existing POSTS but may not POST.  COMMENTS will be reviewed as described above for Contributors.

Posting

On the Add Post screen and the Edit Post screen there are a variety of  attributes that can be set.  The most important of these is the Category.
