MAGIC Webinar: Open Source Cemetery Mapping

Cemeteries are an excellent exercise on location and culture. Last Summer found Randy Hale standing in an African American Cemetery that he and his colleagues ended up partially mapping. That led him to a second cemetery in need of preservation, and finally to his parents, the story of dead and buried relatives, and cemetery maintenance. All of this has led to an idea of an open source project centered around QGIS and cemeteries.

Owner and operator of North River Geographic Systems, Inc., Randal Hale has been in the industry for 25+ years. He works with Free and Open Source Software for GIS. He volunteers with the QGIS Community and serves as an “at large” member of osgeo.us. You will find him either sitting in a pile of data or sitting in a canoe - hopefully a canoe.
