Northcentral Electric Seeking GIS Technician I

Northcentral Electric Cooperative (Olive Branch, MS) is seeking a GIS Technician to provide GIS and computer-aided drafting skills in the Engineering Department. The GIS Technician's responsibilities will be to:

1. Update Northcentral’s geographically accurate, electrically connected database and mapping product, for new map coverage, highway relocations, subdivision plats, and cooperative work orders through ArcMap and ArcPro, and supply these updates to both internal and external systems, various platforms, and users.

2. Through field inspection, utilize GPS collection device(s) to accurately gather completed work order structure location and confirm material used prior to map and database posting.

3. Assist in troubleshooting GIS software functionality with integrated and GIS dependent software systems.

4. Use Microsoft SQL Server and CAD programs to perform imports, exports, and advanced GIS administration duties in the software tables and catalogs.

5. Utilize AutoCAD (or similar platforms) to perform importations, edits, updates, file transfers, and plotting.

6. Import aerial photography, images, and other shapefiles to improve usability of all platforms.

7. Use mapping software and be able to assist in the training of other employees and user support during regular and after hours and during major restoration events.

8. Utilize internal and external training opportunities plus user groups conferences to improve knowledge for all GIS based and dependent systems.

9. Learn cooperative construction material and unit descriptions and be able to perform field inventories for updating of GIS and its databases.

City of Memphis Seeking GIS Technical Analyst

The City of Memphis is seeking a GIS Technical Analyst to implement projects and services dealing with mapping and property planning activities. Responsibilities include maintaining databases, producing maps and reports, and verifying data accuracy, as well as communicating with management, staff, and outside customers on a variety of issues dealing with GIS, mapping, and Engineering plans and activities. The person in this position works closely with Sewer Design, Storm Water, and Construction Inspection teams. The City Charter requires that City Employees must establish residence within Shelby County within six months from the date of employment, and proof of residence will be required at the time of hire.

Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority Seeking GIS Intern

The Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority is seeking a GIS Intern to assist with the Airport’s GIS and asset management program. The GIS Intern is assigned to the GIS Program Administrator and is responsible for collecting field data (locations and attributes), processing and analyzing data, and creating map products. The GIS Intern will work with a variety of employees from various departments, contractors, and consultants. Candidates must be actively pursuing a degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, Geology, or emerging technologies (with a concentration in GIS) from an accredited college or university. Other related science or technology studies may be acceptable having completed at least one GIS course.
